When the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025, the organization acted immediately. Drawing on 13 years of trusted relationships with thousands of women entrepreneurs, their 15-member local team mobilized within hours to deliver life-saving relief. We chose this organization as the primary emergency response partner, as a result.
Before outside help could arrive, the organization committed $20,000 of its own operational funds and began deploying emergency food, clean water, and cash assistance through a network of 144 female entrepreneurs in the hardest-hit areas. These women became hubs for distribution—reaching not only their own households but entire neighborhoods.
Relief Highlights to Date:
-
nearly 40 tons of immediate food relief delivered to more than 1,200 households
-
Over $7,000 of water filters purchased and distributed to restore safe drinking water
-
Direct cash assistance to families whose businesses and homes were destroyed
-
Support to 140+ entrepreneurs to restart livelihoods as markets begin to reopen
All of this is made possible through the trusted, in-country relationships the organization has built over more than a decade. While New International serves as the U.S. receiving and disbursing organization for these donations, the org designs, leads, and executes the relief and recovery efforts on the ground—ensuring that every dollar given translates quickly into tangible help for families in crisis.
