Dobrý den!

After a week of being filled spiritually at PFO (pre-field orientation), the Prague team was ready to skip the pond and finally start work in the library. In just a few days, we have already learned a great deal about the various ministry opportunities taking place because of the space the library provides and the need for Jesus Christ and salvation through Him in this city. We are excited about our partnership with the library and how we will be able to share our various projects with friends and family back home!

Our first day in the library opened our eyes to the variety of groups using the space: from medical students studying in the main library to church groups leading a time of worship for the community in the basement. We heard story after story of how people from all over the world became connected with the library to be a light in Prague. For instance, Karen came all the way from Philadelphia, PA to volunteer at the library after she received a calling from God to serve overseas. The community among the believers here continues to amaze me!

Before we even arrived, we were able to pack a suitcase with supplies difficult to find in the Czech Republic. While Addi began working on the kids’ program we’re developing and Abby started creating an inventory for the library, I was able to put away the supplies, some of which might be used for crafting activities we are planning for each week. We are very excited to serve the kids and their parents in the upcoming weeks by providing a space to relax and experience the love of Jesus.

Later in the week, we were able to take a prayer walk around the city to pray for the people of Prague and learn about the history of the Czech Republic. Even in the act of praying in public, we were able to be a witness to the people around us and pray for the homeless, tourists, international students, and other groups in Prague needing salvation from Jesus Christ.

We would love it if you joined us in praying for Prague and that our children’s program will open opportunities to build relationships and share the Gospel with the community. Also pray for us as we learn more about the history of the Czech Republic and how we can best serve the library and its community.
