Sami first came to Thailand in 2022 with Joni and Friends as an intern. This is where she was given the opportunity to learn from the RICD Wheelchair project. She fell in love with working in a disability ministry that was connected to the medical field. After this experience, she decided she had to return once she graduated.
Since returning from Thailand, Sami continued pursuing a degree in Biology with an Emphasis on Pre-Physical Therapy and a minor in Psychology. She will be graduating in the Spring of 2024! With this degree, the goal is to eventually become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist within school systems or the mission field. Throughout college, she pursued further education in ministry settings and disability work. She has worked in children and camp ministry; likewise, she has worked with companies including The Special Olympics and Ability 360.
Sami is very excited to return to Thailand to work and learn from The RICD Wheelchair Project! She is also excited to focus on the medical aspect of disability ministry. The ability to give someone a wheelchair is an incredible experience that allows more independence and mobility. Throughout her time in Thailand, she is excited to see God work by teaching her about the mission field, challenging her faith, and providing her with practical tips to best serve those with disabilities.
